Glowing in the Cold

It’s that time of year, where the leaves are changing colors, dark lipstick season is in effect, and the weather is COLD. As I write this, its 43 degrees in NYC. I need Winter to stop trying to punk Fall, in trying to take his spot. With all this cold weather, its time to give your skin some extra love. Low temperatures can make skin dry, raw and irritated. Exposing your skin to cold temperatures (such as winter weather and wind) can promote and contribute to aging. Here’s how you can keep your glow in the cold.

I’ve also gone the extra mile to suggest our amazing natural skin care products from Oshun Oasis. Go to www.marienikole.com/shop to purchase.

  1. Exfoliate- At least once or twice a week. Exfoliating helps to remove the dead skin and deep clean pores. Follow up with a moisturizer, so your skin can stay soft and supple. Oshun Oasis has an amazing Activated Charcoal and Chamomile Scrub.

Here are the Benefits:

Activated Charcoal

. Help to remove impurities that tend to clog pores

. Pulls out excess oil

. Fights acne

. Gently Exfoliates Skin

. Detoxifies Skin

Chamomile Oil

. Helps reduce acne inflammation, breakouts, and minor scars

. Promotes a healthy glow of the skin

. Anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant.

2. Moisturize- Moisturizers work not by putting water into the skin, but by slowing the natural loss of water from the skin. Look for one that's both thick and mild. If you’re looking for a moisturizer, be sure to check out Oshun Oasis Glow Oil. Before making this oil, my go to moisturizer was Cetaphil. However, I wanted to use a product with less chemicals, but the same moisturizing effect.

Here are the benefits

Rose Hip Seed Oil

. Improves appearance of scars and marks

. Promotes skin regeneration

. Nourishes skin

. Antibacterial

Flaxseed Oil:

. Beneficial for chronic skin conditions such as rosacea, acne, eczema, and psoriasis

Avocado Oil:

. Replenish dry skin

. Protect against skin damage

. Relieves inflammation from psoriasis and eczema

. Treats dry, inflamed skin

3. Grab the Body Butter Instead – Body Butter is thicker than lotion and is extra effective at rejuvenating dry skin, whether used all over or only on problem patches, such as elbows and knees. Most are made with cocoa butter, shea butter, and other carrier oils/essential oils. Body Butter shouldn’t be used on the face, due to the oils and thicker consistency. The pores on your face must be able to breathe. Our Body Butter is one of our best-selling products that carters to all skin types.

4. Moisturizing Soap- Avoid taking long hot showers. I know, I know. I love HOT showers, but the hot temperature can strip the moisture from your skin. If you must have that hot shower, use a moisturizing soap to hydrate as you wash your cares away. Oshun Oasis now carries an Oatmeal & Honey Soap.

Here are the benefits

. Anti-flammatory and protective properties

. Aids with skin conditions such as acne, eczema, or dry itchy skin.

There you have it, some skin tips and product suggestions to make your skin feel oh so good. I hear its cuffing season, and no one wants to cuddle next to dry and rough skin. Also, don’t forget to drink your water. If you don’t fancy water, add fruits to give it a kick.

Until next time Beauty Peeps, Sending Love & Light your way!
